History at St Richard's

"History will be kind to me for I intend to write it." - Winston Churchill

History in Key Stage 2

During Key Stage 2 pupils learn about significant people, events and places from both the recent and more distant past. They learn about change and continuity in their own area, in Britain and in other parts of the world. Pupils continue to develop a chronologically secure knowledge and understanding of British, local and world history, establishing clear narratives within and across the periods they study. They understand how our knowledge of the past is constructed from a range of sources. Children will ask and answer historical questions about change, cause, similarity and difference, and significance. They are taught to construct informed responses and organise historical information. Children investigate the past using dates historical vocabulary to describe events, people and developments. They also learn that the past can be represented and interpreted in different ways.
