Music at St Richard's

The fact that children can make beautiful music is less significant than the fact that music can make beautiful children. - Cheryl Lavender

Music in Key Stage 1

During Key Stage 1 children are taught to use their voices expressively and creatively by singing songs and reciting chants and rhymes. Children will explore the use of both tuned and un-tuned instruments in a number of ways and begin to experiment with these instruments to select, create and combine sounds using the inter-related dimensions of music.

Listening with concentration and developing understanding allows the children to begin to express their own musical opinion and tastes. The use of live and pre-recorded music from different historical periods takes the children on a musical journey through the ages and allows cross curricular links to be made

Take a look at what we're learning in Music...

Well done to all children who took part in Sing Up  2021. The children all came together virtually with other schools across the world to perform the song 'We are Unstoppable.' You certainly are unstoppable KS1. We are all so very proud of you.
